Random Thoughts

Steve does this periodically and I thought I'd give it a try. This won't be near as entertaining as his are.

1. If you haven't seen it yet, run--don't waddle--to March of the Penguins. Incredible birds. Incredible film. If only we humans were as consistently concerned about the well-being of our children.

2. I love yarn.

3. My sewing machine and I had a counseling session on Saturday and we've decided to stay together for the sake of the chil--ahem--the projects I have planned. Someday I'll actually show you what I've been up to. I'm actually not bad at this sewing thing.

4. Sharon Miller is a genius. I just received her Wedding Ring Shawl pattern and I am overcome. I bow before her greatness. She is my lace hero.

5. The start of the semester brings the same faces, the same sundresses, the same rush attendees. Tomorrow and Friday Park Hall will be beset by the same god-awful number of freshmen asking where room 56 is. Patient and not-so-patient grad students will tell them politely and not-so-politely that the BUILDING is 56 and that the room number they seek is on that thing called a schedule. Hijinks will ensue.

6. Gift knitting is difficult. Why can't I just go for the simple hat and scarf or booties and cap? What compels me to shoot for the moon every time? Is it love or is it a complex?

Off to knit afghan squares...baby shower is Sunday.

I got my Wedding Ring Shawl pattern today too! w00t!!

It's a complex. ;)

By the way, I wore the beautiful shawl you made me at Worldcon in Scotland on Friday, over a grey dress, though I don't think anybody got any photographs of it. It felt and looked wonderful.

Great site... found you through your comments on Major Knitter.

My sewing machine and I have an on-again/ off-again relationship. She is tempermental, and sometimes she refuses to cooperate. She must be spoken to gently. But sometimes I can't resist and it takes all of my will power not to throw her from my 3rd story balcony.

Hiya, your randomness is most excellent. I think the predominant difference between mine and yours is that yours are largely factual and mine are largely nonsensical. :D

*smoooch*

I saw that movie last night, and I didn't really like it. The amount of death was a little extreme (or at least, the treatment of it - it was very obvious when it was coming). And I don't call letting an albatross eat your babies very concerned... they didn't bat an eyelash!

I guess I found it a lot less remarkable than everyone seems to make it out as.

I need to take up the Penguin issue with you Anita. You know that I don't like to argue with you - you being highly educated and apt to beat my arse - but those penguins just left me cranky.

No one likes perpetual victimhood and those penguins are the epitome. "oh, poor us battling the weather here in Antartica!" "look at us struggle to transfer the egg in these subzero temperatures with out insufficient wings" "watch us waddle 70 miles and lose more than half our body weight"

As Tipper pointed out --- those freaky little birds just let that albatross peck away at their babies!

where the hell was the evolutionary process when these Penguins were working out this half assed system??!!
